Get ready for energy efficient appliance rebates

Published by susan under Uncategorized

The Texas State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) will soon offer a $23 million rebate program for Texans to replace working but inefficient appliances with ENERGY STAR models under President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Purchases must be made from April 16 – 25, but to reserve a rebate coupon either call or go on-line and fill out an application starting on about April 2nd. Watch this page for more information about where and how to apply: http://www.seco.cpa.state.tx.us/arra/rebate/index.php#offers. Without a “reservation,” rebates won’t be guaranteed.

Seems to me that if the Comptroller of Public Accounts (shrinking-government Republican, Susan Combs) maintained adequate staffing, it might not be necessary to bid management of this program out to a private contractor. We need to keep an eye on our “small” state government and follow where the public money is really going!
